I don’t sleep. Similar to your favorite vampire (Team Edward or Team Jacob?) I lie awake at night, scanning the walls of my bedroom searching for answers. “Why did I say that in my meeting?” “What did Rebecca, who I haven’t spoken to since ninth grade, end up doing with her life?” “What is my mom doing right now, and is she okay?”
Sunday Scaries Gummies for Anxiety, $39, forsundayscaries.com
Lord Jone’s CBD All-Natural Old Fashioned Gumdrops, $45; shop.lordjones.com
First, I tried the Instagram-ad approved Sunday Scaries brand gummies, which promised a good night’s sleep and relaxation of a wandering mind, and had a pretty meh experience. Sunday Scaries was started by two men, Mike Sill and Beau Schmitt, who wanted to create something that helped with daily anxiety. The name is a cute reference to that feeling of dread that dawns on Sunday night when the reality of Monday starts barreling towards you. The bottle comes with 20 gummies (for $39), similar to a bag of Haribo gold bears, and can be taken when you want to reduce stress and relax, aka what I needed to go to sleep.
I picked the brain of Lord Jones’s founder Cindy Capobianco to see what exactly set these gummies apart. Capobianco was quick to explain that not all CBD gummies on the market are equal. She explained that there are two main factors differentiating real and fake CBD gummies. The first is the quality of the CBD that manufacturers are using. Lord Jones uses a full spectrum of CBD oil that contains all the compounds of the plant working together, not just an isolated molecule of CBD, like some of its competitors. Additionally, Capobianco pointed to the manufacturing of the product. How your CBD is applied matters, apparently. Some manufacturers CBD-ify their products by spraying it on, but Lord Jones actually infuses their gummies by hand. I must say, I did notice the difference.
Increasing Your CBD Dosage
Speed isn’t necessarily the most important factor in choosing how to take CBD. For some people adding it to their drink or smoothie is the most convenient, and for others, a capsule is best. No matter which way you choose, it’s a good idea to time it for the best effect. If you’re taking it to sleep better, you may want to take a capsule a couple of hours before bed, or a tincture 20 minutes before bedtime.
How to Calculate Dosage If Not Labeled
High-quality brands will include a certificate of analysis (COA) that shows all of the third-party testing that has been done on the product to make sure that it’s free of toxins and other contaminants.
How much you should take will depend on lots of factors, including:
There are few known side effects of taking CBD. Those who do experience negative effects will have changes in appetite, fatigue, or diarrhea.
It’s best to incorporate supplements into your routine conveniently to make the most of them. That means you can take your CBD supplement together with your other supplements or at the same time every day. You might want to take your CBD edibles with your meals because eating when you take a capsule, y5trfhor edible improves the CBD bioavailability (more on that below).
To determine whether you should take CBD in the morning, during the day, or at night, you need to decide what time of the day your body responds best to CBD. Here’s a general guide to help you figure out the best time of day to take CBD oil, depending on your objectives.
Any surplus CBD that the endocannabinoid system can’t utilize is usually stored in fat cells. When there are enough CBD deposits in the fat cells, the body releases it gradually for use by the endocannabinoid system so that you can enjoy its benefits for days.
When Does CBD Start Working?
Inhaling CBD using a vape pen is one of the fastest delivery methods. The lungs absorb the CBD quickly, making the CBD reach your bloodstream quickly. It takes 15 to 30 minutes after inhalation for CBD to reach its peak levels in your bloodstream.
We use CBD for many different reasons, including treating skin conditions, improving sleep, improving mood, relieving chronic pain, and other ailments. If you want to improve sleep, it would be best to take your daily CBD dose before bed.
Oral administration is perhaps the most popular delivery method today. It is ideal for CBD types like capsules, edibles, powder, and tinctures. With this method, however, CBD often takes the longest time to reach the endocannabinoid system.
Different people respond differently to CBD because our body weight affects our circulation, metabolism, and overall health. Heavyweight individuals usually have more fat cells, allowing them to absorb and store more CBD.
