Sadly, for the time being, it is illegal to import CBD products from overseas, as per the current law patients must provide a doctor’s prescription and can only purchase their CBD products at a licensed pharmacy.
In New Zealand, CBD products can be legally sold if they have been assessed for their safety and efficacy, as well as have been accepted for distribution by the Medicines Act 1981 or the Medicinal Cannabis Agency. At the moment of the writing of this information, the only CBD medicine that has been approved for sale in NZ is Sativex™, and therefore doctors can prescribe it without any problem.

Since January 2019, 40.2 litres of CBD oil has been stopped and seized by Customs at the border across 5918 separate packages.
Despite his company having had “thousands of dollars” worth of product stopped and destroyed by Customs, he said just 40 litres of CBD oil being seized since 2019 seemed “very low”.
It is used by athletes around the world as a natural alternative to opioids, taken orally, with prices ranging from roughly $35-190 per bottle.
Be careful for misleading products marketing hemp seed oil as CBD oil. While hemp seed oil can contain trace amounts of cannabinoids like CBD, this is not a CBD product. Hemp seed oil comes from the seeds, CBD comes from the flower or bud.

If you find a New Zealand CBD oil product online, they cannot legally sell it or ship it, or it is not in fact a real CBD product.
As of the 1st of March 2021, CBD (cannabidiol) oil is a prescription only medicine in New Zealand. We are unable to sell CBD online and you are unable to legally purchase CBD online in New Zealand. The only legal way of obtaining CBD oil is through a doctors prescription.
