This course aims to give students a working knowledge of processes in three dimensional art, including hand-building and finishing techniques in clay, wire, cardboard and Plaster of Paris. Students will explore sculptural ceramics with a particular emphasis on form and volume. Students gain an appreciation of the tactile nature of 3D materials and will develop and realise their ideas. Students will also look to the work of famous artists who use both modern and traditional techniques for creative inspiration.

The Brookfield Craft Center is pleased to announce their Call for Artists for the 3rd Annual Juried Student Exhibition – Artists on the Rise. This juried youth art show is open to all high school student artists in the Greater Danbury area who design and create their own work in any of the following categories: Clay/Ceramic, Photography, Fiber, Glass, Jewelry, Mixed Media (2D), Mixed Media (3D), Painting, Drawing, Metal, Wood, Video. The deadline for entries is February 4th and the exhibition will run from March 10th – 31st.

All student submissions must be entered through our online entry form through the link below below. Each entrant must create a username and password in order to complete their submission. If an entrant created a username and login last year, they may utilize their existing login. Each applicant may submit up to two pieces of work to be included in the jury process. Note: dependent on the number of entries, only one piece of work may be selected for the exhibition. Each applicant must submit an artist statement and each submission needs a description of work. Final size of Framed 2D Artwork may be no larger than 24 x 16 inches. Framing or matting preferred but no student will be excluded from entry due to inability to frame artwork. 3D Artwork may be no bigger than 3 feet in height.
